Jonathan (“Jonny”) Grusing is a former FBI Special Agent whose decades of work investigating violent crime have shaped a deep understanding of both human brokenness and God’s justice. Nationally recognized for his investigative skill and relatable teaching style, Grusing resolved some of Colorado’s most challenging criminal cases and spent more than twelve years training law enforcement, schools, corporations, and churches in threat assessment and violence prevention using principles from the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU).
Today, Grusing serves as Director of Safety and Security for the Douglas County School District, where he leads prevention-focused efforts to protect 62,000 students and staff. His leadership has expanded security personnel, strengthened policies, and equipped thousands through in-person training rooted in wisdom, discernment, and stewardship.
Throughout his career, Grusing has interviewed serial offenders, mass-attack planners, and individuals at the darkest points of human behavior. Yet he approaches every investigation with compassion, humility, and a belief that no story is beyond God’s reach. His cases have been featured on Dateline, 48 Hours, Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, and other national outlets.
A gifted communicator, Grusing speaks to churches, ministries, law-enforcement professionals, and community groups about recognizing warning signs, pursuing truth, and finding hope in the midst of fear. He weaves biblical perspective, lived experience, and moments of humor to remind audiences that God is present—even in the shadows—and that His justice is always redemptive.
